Boss Global Radio™ — Hi-Fi Stereo at 320 kbps: Days Away

We fought for this—and we got it.
Boss Global Radio™ will soon stream in true hi-fi stereo at 320 kbps AAC-LC, making us one of just a handful of stations—out of thousands worldwide—broadcasting at this level of quality.
Our partners confirmed the upgrade this week after we specifically requested it, pushing past the standard limits most stations settle for. They even had to customize the encoder to make it happen. As they put it:
“We had to customize the encoder to do 320. It’s the absolute max it will go — but it’s done.”
Now we’re just waiting on their final backend work. Within days, the switch flips. And the difference? You’ll hear it.
🔊 Why 320 kbps Hi-Fi Stereo Is Rare (and Why We Insisted)
Most streaming platforms—and most radio streams—don’t come close. Here’s the reality:
📉 Spotify Free & Premium: Streams at ~96–160 kbps on mobile, maxing out at 320 kbps MP3-equivalent Ogg Vorbis, but heavily compressed & algorithm-managed (source: Spotify FAQ, What HiFi)
📉 Apple Music: Streams at ~256 kbps AAC with ALAC lossless as an optional download (source: Apple Support, Mac Rumors)
📉 iHeartRadio, TuneIn, and most online stations: Stream at 48–96 kbps, sometimes even mono or parametric stereo. Many don’t even disclose their bitrate.
We refused to settle for “good enough” or “what everyone else does.”
Instead, we requested the highest possible setting—and our tech partners delivered.
📈 What Makes 320 kbps Special?
At 320 kbps AAC-LC (Advanced Audio Codec – Low Complexity), you get:
🎧 Full stereo width & depth—no fake parametric stereo
🥁 Punchy, clear bass & crisp highs—every detail preserved
🔊 Transparency close to lossless—indistinguishable from CD quality for most listeners
And compared to the industry standard 64 kbps parametric stereo? It’s not even close. What others throw away to save bandwidth, we keep—because it’s yours to hear.
🖤 Why It Matters
Thousands of stations stream online. Almost all of them cut corners to save costs. Very few invest the time, money, and energy it takes to stream at true hi-fi 320 kbps stereo. Soon, we’ll join that small group—not because it’s easy, but because it’s right.
💙 What You’ll Need to Do
Nothing.
You don’t pay more.
You don’t change a thing.
You’ll just notice more.
The space.
The weight.
The way music should feel.
🌎 Are There Others Like Us?
We checked—and yes, a few do exist. But not many.
Thousands of internet radio stations are streaming right now—but only a select few, like Radio Paradise, Audiophile.fm, and a handful of niche hi-fi broadcasters, stream at 320 kbps AAC or better.
Most online radio stations stick to 64–128 kbps, and even mainstream giants like Spotify and Apple Music cap out at lower bitrates or use different compression that can’t match the clarity of full-bitrate AAC stereo.
By pushing to 320 kbps AAC-LC, Boss Global Radio™ is joining a rarefied group of stations worldwide—and setting a new standard for indie radio.
We didn’t just ask for more. We got it. And soon, you’ll hear why.
We’ll announce the exact moment the upgrade goes live—but we’re just days away. And when it does, you’ll hear why we insisted.
