As 2024 came to a close, I can look back and say that it was a great year for music.
Everyone has a favorite artist, genre, or band.
While we started 2024 with a music format of dance, we ended up switching to a more commercial Top 40 sound.
The year 2024 has introduced us to a music scene that is both vibrant and diverse. 2024 has concluded, and we reflect on some of the most successful artists on Boss Global Radio, including Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Sabrina Carpenter, and Billie Eilish.
Ariana Grande, Brandy & Monica, The Boy Is Mine (Remix): This single was released on June 21, 2024. It featured Brand & Monica, who are known for the 1998 hit of the same title. Even though it did not sample the original song, it interpolates the 1998's song's titular lyrics. The Boy Is Mine remix debuted on Boss Global Radio on June 22, 2024, and reached #1 in most-listened spins with 4,115 unique listeners.
21 Savage featuring Summer Walker—Prove It: This song was released on June 4, 2024. This is from 21 Savage's third studio album, "American Dream.". This song quickly flew to the top of our music charts, remaining at #1 for 2 straight weeks in August 2024. Although it peaked at #1 on the Billboard U.S. Rhythmic charts, it managed only #43 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was 2024's #2 song on Boss Global Radio with 3,863 unique listeners.
Mustard & Travis Scott-Parking Lot: The release date of this single was June 21, 2024. This song was the lead single of Mustard's fourth studio album, "Faith of a Mustard Seed.". The song is about how Travis enjoys having a woman's company, or should I say companionship, in the parking lot in the summer. This was a summer anthem on Boss Global Radio and was 2024's #3 song with 3,654 unique listeners.
GloRilla & Megan Thee Stallion—Wanna Be: A smash hit featuring two of rap's hottest female rappers. The single was released on April 5, 2024. The song contains samples of "Pretty Boy Swag" by Soulja Boy and "Don't Save Her" by Project Pat. A remix with Cardi B was released on May 31, 2024. The song was nominated to the BET Hip Hop Awards and the MTV Video Music Awards. It ends the year on Boss Global Radio at #4, with 3,474 unique listeners.
FISHER & Jennifer Lopez: Waiting For Tonight (Remix): In 2024, Jlo teamed up with dance remixer/producer FISHER for a remake and re-release of Jlo's 1999 hit of the same title. Although the dance remix was not officially released to mainstream radio, it did very well in the clubs and on Boss Global Radio. It ends the year at #5 with a whopping 3,355 unique listeners, exceeding the expectations of many.
Kendrick Lamar- Not Like Us: A global smash, this single is a diss track written and recorded by the American rapper. It was released on May 4, 2024, through Interscope Records amidst his feud with Canadian rapper Drizzy Drake. The song was nominated as the top streaming song for the Billboard Music Awards and won the BET Hip Hop Music Award for best hip hop video, impact track and song of the year. In addition, it has been nominated for MTV Music Europe Awards, MTV Music Video Awards, and is pending in 5 categories in the 2025 Grammy Awards. One of Lamar's biggest hits, it ends at #6 on Boss Global Radio's 2024 Top Ten with 3,319 unique listeners.
Eminem-Houdini: This single was released on May 31, 2024, by Detroit native and American rapper Eminem. This was the lead single of Eminem's twelfth studio album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce). It samples the Steve Miller Band's "Abracadabra," a 1982 global smash hit. It has received extensive airplay from adult contemporary to hip-hop/rap, and Top 40 stations around the globe. It ends the year at #7 on Boss Global Radio with 3,192 unique listeners.
Billie Eilish, Birds of a Feather: From Eilish's studio third studio album titled "HIT ME HARD and SOFT," this single was released on May 17, 2024. It impacted U.S. Top 40 radio in the summer of 2024. On July 2, to be exact. This single has continued to be requested by everyone, from her fanbase to general listeners. As we move into 2025, this song is still in heavy rotation as of this blog. It ends 2024 as the #8 most-listened-to song on Boss Global Radio with 3,124 unique listeners.
Sabrina Carpenter & Mark Ronson, Espresso (Working Late Remixes) "Espresso" is a song by American singer Sabrina Carpenter from her sixth studio album, "Short n' Sweet.". Epresso peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Although we played the original, the remix with record producer and remixer Mark Ronson is the one that ultimately took off and became a smash hit on Boss Global Radio. With 3,099 unique listeners, Espresso (Working Late Remixes) ranks #9 on our 2024 Year End Countdown.
prodbycpkshawn & Ugly Andz - Yo Bunny (Pop Like This, Pt. 2 Remix): Released on April 17, 2024, this fun and dance track made its initial appearance on Tik Tok as a trending dance short video. Its popularity on the social site eventually gave its strong push into the mainstream radio airplay. While it was not a global smash hit, it was definitely one that our listeners here at Boss Global Radio enjoyed, as the 2024 final rankings show that it came in tenth with 3,090 unique listeners.
In conclusion, 2024 had both great moments and dull moments in music, with pop music overwhelmingly winning over our listeners. We will continue to program the hottest and newest music and let you, the listener, decide what Boss Global Radio holds in store in 2025.
